Noosa and Surrounding District

Press for ''About Noosa Tropicana"

Noosa is situated at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast,     140 kilometres (90 miles) north of Brisbane on the East Coast of Australia. It is approximately 100 minutes north of Brisbane International Airport and just 40 minutes north of the Sunshine Coast’s domestic Airport near Maroochydore.

Noosa has protected its natural environment and resisted over-development by creating significant areas of pristine national park. Noosa's ongoing commitment to managing its development while protecting the natural environment has been recognised by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The entire local government area was declared a Biosphere Reserve at a meeting in Paris, France, in September 2007.

   Noosa Holiday Accommodation

Noosa is regarded as Australia’s premier resort village, which combines the metropolitan lifestyle of Hastings Street and Main Beach as well as the country atmosphere and hospitality of Noosaville and Noosa River. Both offer a very high standard of Noosa Holiday accommodation, shopping, dining, services and entertainment with Noosa Tropicana, self contained holiday accommodation ideally situated between the 2 precincts, in our own "Hidden Oasis".

There are many day trips you can make around Noosa, so you might want to stay a few extra days and enjoy your Noosa vacation.

The Noosa River system is pristine and beautiful, and ready to be explored. Whether it is an all day pass on the Noosa Ferry, a Sunset Jazz or Calypso Cruise on the Catalina Cruises or enjoying the intimacy of Gondolas of Noosa as it cruises the river and canals.  Take an intriguing journey of discovery through the magnificent lakes of Cooroibah and Cootharaba and into the wetlands, where you can navigate your way into the tranquil waters of the Noosa Everglades. Noosa River is the only river system in Australia that has its entire upper catchment protected in a National Park (Cooloola National Park).

Explore the majestic Teewah Coloured Sands and the Red Canyon on Noosa’s North shore as you enjoy an exhilarating drive in your 4x4 along the 40 mile beach on your way to Double Island Point and Rainbow Beach. Witness the 360 degrees of stunning views from the Double Island Point lighthouse, before progressing through the through a towering sub-tropical rainforest, which amazingly thrives in the high dunes of Cooloola National Park.

Fraser Island's world Heritage listing ranks it with Australia's Uluru, Kakadu and the Great Barrier Reef. Fraser Island “the world’s largest sand island”, is just a couple of hours north, and is deserving of at least a visit. We recommend the use the local eco tourism specialists, to pamper you as they explore and discover a precious part of Australia's natural and cultural heritage. Fraser Island is a place of exceptional beauty, with its long uninterrupted white beaches flanked by strikingly coloured sand cliffs. Visit one of the 100 magnificent freshwater lakes, all ringed by white sandy beaches. Ancient rainforests grow in sand along the banks of fast-flowing, crystal-clear creeks. The low "wallum" heaths on the island are of particular ecological significance, and provide magnificent wildflower displays in spring and summer. Fraser Island is a precious part of Australia's natural and cultural heritage, it is protected for all to appreciate and enjoy.

The late Steve Irwin’s, Australia Zoo is 45minutes to the south on the Glasshouse Mountains Tourist Drive, and well worth a visit. If you’ve ever wanted to cuddle a koala, hand-feed an Asian Elephant, walk alongside a Bengal Tiger, take a Tasmanian Devil for a stroll, wrap a snake around your shoulders or watch a massive Saltwater Crocodile launch a strike from the water’s edge, then Australia Zoo is your ultimate destination. Your visit to the Home of The Crocodile Hunter will definitely thrill and amaze you!

If you like finding stuff for yourself, then the Noosa region is perfect for you. Whether it’s village craft markets of Eumundi, Yandina, Peregian, cool mountaintop cafes and bars on the Blackall range (Mapleton, Montville & Maleny) or just the hinterland towns of Cooroy or Pomona, there’s so much to see and do, you won’t believe you didn’t book for longer.

Come and see why we love this place so much. Come and share the good food, wine and friends and enjoy a laugh, a beer, a tall story or a good memory.
